Aptly referred to as Wildflower Country, Western Australia is home to one of the largest shows of wildflowers on earth. The region has more than 12,000 species and 60% of these are unique to WA. Wildflower Country runs from Moora in the south to Dalwallinu in the east, and from Mullewa in the north to Green Head and Geraldton in the West, and features the most incredible, breathtaking wildflower displays.
These explosions of colour are a must-see spectacle for any Australian. Some of the most popular displays include Coalseam Conservation Park and Mount Augustus. For those who prefer not to travel too far, Perth also hosts an annual Spring Wildflower Festival in Kings Park & Botanical Gardens in September.

If you are lucky enough to trek the Larapinta trail in the Red Centre during late Winter into early Spring, you may also be lucky enough to spot the pretty yellows, purples, blues and reds of the wildflowers that line the trail. The Larapinta Trail is home to more than 700 species of flora and at certain times throughout the year, it comes alive with their vibrant colours. The trail itself, through Central Australia’s West Macdonnell Ranges, covers an impressive 223km but can be experienced in sections or on a day trip from Alice Springs.
The wildflowers of the Larapinta Trail offer a sharp and beautiful contrast to the rusty, arid desert landscape of the Red Centre.
