Caravan Industry Accreditation

Whether you are buying an RV or enjoying the caravan and camping lifestyle | “Look for the Key!”
Many industry businesses (and salespersons) voluntarily undertake accreditation to showcase their commitment to continuous improvement and better customer outcomes.
The suite of caravanning industry accreditation programs are administered by Caravan Industry Association of Australia – the peak national body for the caravanning and camping industry in Australia.

RVMAP | Working towards a safer RV industry
RVMAP is a voluntary Australian Design Rules (ADRs) educational and inspection program focussing on safety.
Australian Design Rules (ADRs) are national standards for vehicle safety, anti-theft and emissions.
Industry businesses sign an RVMAP licence, committing to consistently supply RV product that adheres to relevant ADRs and Federal compliance regulations.
Caravan Industry Association of Australia regularly checks this commitment through the inspection of product and paperwork at factories, dealerships and at consumer shows.
Camper trailer product carries the RVMAP Camper badge (normally located next to the entrance door) with all other locally manufactured RV product carrying the RVMAP Manufacturer badge.
The RVMAP inspection team has opened up over 5,000 inspection files in recent years, with RVMAP licenced businesses on a like for like inspection recording on average nearly three times less ADR compliance issues per product inspected. Of the 100 worst businesses inspected for ADR compliance, only 3 are RVMAP businesses (74th, 91st and 93rd).
Don’t risk your loved one’s safety!
So, when looking to purchase a new caravan, camper or motorhome, look for the ‘key’!!

Committed to better consumer outcomes
Consumers can be more confident when visiting a dealership that has committed to better consumer outcomes through their participation in the Retail Dealership Accreditation Program (RDAP).
Accredited dealerships who display the ‘Accreditation Key’ have been independently assessed to show they are:
- Committed to best business practices;
- Adhering to stringent regulatory compliance;
- Abiding by a code of conduct for customer liaising, sales and service;
- Enacting policies and procedures to ensure professional sales and service conduct;
- Employing staff who are registered/licensed appropriately to comply with state regulators; and
- Understanding of their Australian Consumer Law obligations.
Dealerships are required to renew their accreditation annually to ensure they remain current in their understanding of obligations under the accreditation criteria.
So, when looking to choose a caravan/RV dealership look for the ‘Key’!!

Committed to better consumer outcomes

Caravan / holiday parks are required to prove adherence to a range of business procedures and safety requirements prior to being granted accreditation and renew their accreditation annually along with supplying answers to an annual checklist of compliance. The Association also provides regular education of matters of safety and regulatory change and undertakes physical visits of accredited properties to observe and inspect business processes and paperwork against the accreditation criteria.

Committed to better consumer outcomes
Caravan Industry Association of Australia is committed to leading and championing a safe, compliant and sustainable caravanning and camping industry. To assist in this, we have developed a comprehensive Salesperson Accreditation Program.
The Caravan Industry Salesperson Accreditation Program (CISAP) has been established to allow consumers to identify industry leaders in sales and service and recognise their professionalism and knowledge of Australian Consumer Law (ACL) requirements, as well as best practice customer service and ethical sales behaviours.
This program has been designed specifically to give consumers better consumer outcomes through knowledge, professionalism and ethical behaviours giving greater confidence when dealing with salespersons within the recreational vehicle (RV) industry in Australia.
Each accredited salesperson will be recognised by an identification badge visible to the consumer containing a unique accreditation number, the name of the salesperson, a photo of the salesperson and an accreditation expiry date (valid for one year).
Prior to renewing accreditation, each accredited salesperson is required to undertake agreed professional development to make sure they are current in understanding their commercial and legal obligations.
So, when looking to purchase a new caravan, camper or motorhome, look to deal with a salesperson identified by a badge with the ‘key’!!
