Located in the remote southwest of NSW, Mungo National Park offers a thoroughly unique landscape of ancient dry lake basins, sculpted sand and clay formations, and a deep Aboriginal history. This remarkable place is home to 20,000-year-old fossil human footprints as well as evidence of the planet’s oldest ritual burials—specifically Mungo Lady and Mungo Man, buried some 42,000 years ago.
This incredible, ancient place hold great significance for the Paakantji, Ngyiampaa and Mutthi Mutthi people.
Several caravan parks can be found in nearby towns such as Ivanhoe and Balranald, along with a campsite within the national park itself. For a wider range of accommodation, the Victorian town of Mildura is less than two hours’ drive and offers plenty of options—including BIG4 Holiday Parks, Discovery Parks, and NRMA Parks and Resorts.
