See Western Australia in Full Colour This Spring!

Category: Inspiration, News, Date: 14 September 2026

There’s something pretty special about spring on the open road in WA.

With more than 12,000 wildflowers species, over 60% of which are found nowhere else on Earth, Western Australia comes alive with an incredible display of colour each year.

The wildflower season begins across the Pilbara, Goldfields and Coral Coast in July before making its way south. By September, the spectacle reaches Perth’s botanical gardens, nature reserves and national parks, before continuing through the forests and coastal heaths of the South West in October and November.

From colourful carpets across the outback to blooms among forests, rugged coastlines and national parks, there’s plenty to discover on your next road trip.

Here are five wildflower hotspots to add to your list:

  1. Kalbarri National Park
Wildflowers meet dramatic gorges and rugged coastal landscapes in one of WA’s most iconic national parks.
  2. Coalseam Conservation Park, Mingenew
A favourite wildflower stop in Western Australia’s Mid West and a great addition to a spring road trip through wildflower country.
  3. Lesueur National Park
Head along the Coral Coast to discover another of the Guide’s top spots for experiencing WA’s incredible spring colour.
  4. John Forrest National Park
You don’t have to travel far from Perth to join in. John Forrest National Park is one of the Guide’s top wildflower hotspots and an easy addition to a spring day trip.
  5. Cape Le Grand National Park, Esperance
Follow the season south to Esperance, where wildflowers meet some of Western Australia’s most spectacular coastal scenery.
