Barunga Festival, 7 June – 10 June

Dive into Aboriginal culture at the Barunga Festival, held in the small community of Barunga. This cultural celebration features traditional music, sport, and art, offering visitors a profound insight into indigenous heritage through interactive workshops and live performances. The event is family-friendly and visitors of all ages are encouraged to join the festivities and enjoy this unique opportunity to engage with a remote Indigenous community. It features a range of activities, including traditional dance and music performances, art exhibitions, workshops, sports competitions and cultural talks.

Tatts Finke Desert Race, 7 June – 10 June

Upcoming events in the NT

Experience the adrenaline of Australia’s most iconic off-road race, the Tatts Finke Desert Race. This grueling two-day event attracts bike, car, and buggy racers from around the world who tackle the challenging outback terrain between Alice Springs and the remote community of Finke. The event begins with a Street Party and Night Market on the 6th June, followed by the exciting Scrutineering event, one of the biggest and most colourful night across Finke weekend. This gives visitors the opportunity to get up close to each of the 500+ race vehicles, meet the competitors and enjoy the range of food and drink options on offer.

The Prologue event, where competitors race against the clock to determine their race-day position is on the 8th, followed by the epic 2-day race through outback Central Australia. Find out more here.

Darwin Triple Crown Supercars, 14 June – 16 June

Motorsport fans should not miss the Darwin Triple Crown Supercars, the only round of the Supercars Championship held in the Northern Territory. The event features a variety of racing categories, including the Supercars Championship, Porsche Carrera Cup, Touring Car Masters, and V8 SuperUtes. Along with the thrilling races, the event promises other entertainment including concerts and a spectacular aerobatic display.

Darwin Pride 2024, 20 June – 23 June 

Upcoming events in the Northern Territory

Celebrate diversity and inclusion at Darwin Pride 2024. This festival supports the LGBTQ+ community with a lineup of events including a pride march, parties, and cultural performances, fostering a spirit of community and acceptance across Darwin. The event has a full music festival line up including Pop diva Ricki-Lee, international party DJ Yo! Mafia, singer songwriter Bec Sandridge and a host of local and interstate queer talent. 

On the 22nd June, the festival will have its free, family-fun day down at the Darwin waterfront, where guests can enjoy a range of family-friendly activities as well as food and market stalls. Get tickets here.
