The Northern Territory is an iconic destination bursting with hidden treasures and quiet wonders. From the lush tropical landscapes of the Top End to the red desert sands of Central Australia, it offers something for every kind of traveller.
With so much unspoiled beauty to explore, it can be hard to know where to start. That’s why we’re launching a new series highlighting some of the NT’s best-kept-secrets—starting with the stunning Robin Falls in the Top End.

Hidden beside another Top End treasure—Litchfield National Park—Robin Falls is a stunning three-tiered waterfall complete with crystal-clear creek, tropical forest surrounds and unique native wildlife. The 1.5km return hike is short and scenic, through the natural bush setting where you will be rewarded with a refreshing dip in the rock pool at the falls.
Just a short drive away, the charming town of Adelaide River offers more opportunity to explore. Once a major military base during WWII, it’s home to a beautiful cemetery where some 434 servicemen are buried.
And while you’re in the area, the iconic Adelaide River croc-jumping tours are worth a visit!
Robin Falls is a seasonal waterfall, meaning its flow depends on the rainfall. As a result, the best time to visit the falls is early in the Dry Season (May-June). During this time the falls will still be flowing, the temperatures will be pleasant, and the pools are typically safer for swimming.
One great feature of this hidden gem is its proximity to Darwin —just 1.5 hours by car, making it perfect for a day trip.
If you’re staying in Darwin, check out BIG4 Hidden Valley Holiday Park, Discovery Parks Darwin or the Darwin FreeSpirit Resort as a comfortable and relaxing base for your adventures.
If you’re looking to stay closer to the falls, both Batchelor Holiday Park and Litchfield Tourist Park are a short drive away.
