The highly anticipated Million Dollar Road Trip campaign was launched in the Northern Territory last week with Channel 7’s Sunrise team! Sunrise’s popular weatherman Sam Mac visited the NT to kick-off the promotion and spent three-days highlighting the region’s amazing tourist attractions.
The three-day journey began on May 21st at Discovery Parks in Alice Springs, where Sam Mac got everyone involved in the fun! Attendees had a blast with activities like stargazing with Astronomer Andrew Fitzgerald and beanie building for the Alice Springs Beanie Festival. Discovery Parks kept everyone fed with a pancake breakfast and we were even treated to a live sing-along with Australian Singer-Songwriter, Barry Skipsey!
The adventure continued on May 22nd at the National Transport Museum, showcasing Australia’s unique road transport heritage and amazing work of the Museum’s volunteers. Sam Mac had the pleasure of driving some of great machines including a brand-spanking new Kenworth truck and a vintage Cadillac!
The events concluded on May 23rd at the vibrant Darwin Waterfront. There were amazing murals from local artists participating in the Darwin Street Art Festival and a live reptile show from Territory Wildlife Park Keeper, Simon and his Albino Darwin Python, Lady Gaga! Sam interviewed fantastic Territory business owner, Rowdy, who spoke about the amazing tourism experiences available in the NT including a Helicopter Pub Crawl! A live performance from Tom Curtain, Australian country music singer wrapped up a great few days in the Northern Territory.
This event was part of a campaign to highlight the unique attractions of the Northern Territory while promoting the Million Dollar Road Trip NT competition. The Million Dollar Road Trip is running from May 1 until September 30 and will give one lucky NT traveller the chance to win a million dollars!
To be in with a chance to win some of the incredible prizes on offer, travellers must either 1) stay in a caravan park in the NT, 2) visit one of the four Visitor Information Centres in the NT, or 3) book an experience with one of the participating NT businesses!
Overall, the Sunrise campaign was a resounding success, bringing attention to the Northern Territory’s stunning landscapes and vibrant culture, as well as highlighting the amazing work that local tourism businesses undertake in the region.
