Summer is the perfect time to explore South Australia’s extraordinary Yorke Peninsula. Located northwest of Adelaide, between Spencer Gulf on the west and Gulf St Vincent on the east, it features pristine coastlines and is only 90 minutes from the state’s capital.
Popular areas within the Yorke Peninsula include the Copper Triangle which is approximately bounded by the towns of Kadina, Moonta and Wallaroo. Learn about this part of the country’s history, where copper was discovered and mined over a century ago, as you travel through the various towns.

Further down the middle of the peninsula are the towns of Maitland, Ardrossan, Minlaton and Pt Vincent. As you travel through this area keep an eye out for local murals, silo and water tower art as well.
Yorkes is world-renowned for its surf, Daly Head was the first National Surfing Reserve in South Australia and in that area alone there are over a dozen breaks. Corny Point is home to the magnificent Berry Bay which is one of the best beaches to learn to surf and it always has a wave.
If fishing is more your scene, then Stansbury jetty, Ardrossan jetty, Port Broughton or Port Hughes may take your fancy where you can catch everything from King George Whiting to blue swimmer crabs and squid.
For those that enjoy bushwalking and camping, there’s the extraordinary 9200ha Dhilba Guuranda-Innes National Park ready for you to discover. The park has walking trails that range in length from 30-minute walks to 4-hour hikes and is close to some of the best surfing and fishing spots on the Yorke Peninsula too.
