RIPPED OFF: $2 test can save thousands

Category: News, Date: 11 April 2022

The Australian Financial Security Authority are urging second-hand vehicle buyers to invest in a $2 PPSR (Personal Property Securities Register) search when looking to buy their next vehicle.

It comes after several severe weather events on Australia’s east coast, such as fires, flooding and hailstorms, have left thousands of vehicles damaged.

The AFSA warn you never know what a vehicle could be hiding.

A search can tell potential buyers if vehicles have been reported as write-offs- which is essential to know when buying a second-hand vehicle.

A $2 search could save you thousands of dollars and hours of grief and stress.

The AFSA is determined to raise awareness of the importance of PPSR searches, and have launched a campaign on their Facebook page to keep you updated.

Further resources are available on the PPSR website, which gives handy how-to-use instructions.
