Look for the Key

Category: News, Date: 12 December 2014

Caravan Industry Association of Australia (CIAA) have released the RVMAP Accreditation Key, soon to be the standard in compliance and accreditation branding for the Australian Caravan and RV Manufacturing Industry.

Providing the consumer with peace of mind and security when purchasing a new RV product is the central aim of CIAA’s Accreditation Key.

“The Australian Design Rules for the construction of RV’s for Australian conditions are some of the toughest in the world, and it’s important that products being supplied to the market meet these standards,” said CIAA Chief Executive Officer, Stuart Lamont.

“With deregulation of the Government’s agenda, it is important that consumers purchasing products in our industry are  supplied with products that are fit for their intended purpose, and that are able to stand up to the rigours of the Australian landscape.”

The Caravan Industry is determined to further improve business practices within the industry, with compliance and accreditation, and education and training, forming two of the five operational pillars for the national peak body, CIAA.

In close consultation with state caravanning associations, Caravan Industry Association of Australia is working on ways to protect consumers that are often making one of the biggest purchases of their lifetime, against breaches of compliance through partnering with Government and regulators on compliance requirements.

“Caravanning remains an incredibly popular pastime with 85% of the Australian population having gone caravanning or camping at one point in their lifetime,” Mr Lamont said.

“It is important that consumers have an easily recognisable symbol giving them the confidence to be sure of their next RV purchase. The RVMAP Accreditation Key will provide it.”

The Key will be displayed on new manufactured RV product from November 1, 2014.

The Accreditation Key has already been rolled out to the caravan holiday park accreditation program run by Caravan Industry Association of Australia, and there are plans to extend the Key out to other sectors of the industry over the coming year so that caravanning consumers can feel comfortable that they are dealing with reputable product and businesses which have been assessed through the industry-led accreditation program.

The Recreational Vehicle Manufacturing Accreditation Program (RVMAP) underpins the drive for ever-higher quality and safety standards.  For manufacturers of all sizes, it provides world-class, fully documented management systems to deliver compliance, safety and value – in every RV they build.

The RVMAP “Accredited” Key on an RV is the ultimate proof of compliance – only those businesses who have attained RVMAP Accreditation are entitled to display it.
