LEARN: New Features on the Track Trailer Tvan

Category: News, Date: 29 June 2015

Since January, Sunrise weatherwoman Edwina “Eddy” Bartholomew has been towing a Track Trailer Tvan on a ‘Lap of the Map’.

“We have met so many travellers along the way in campervans, trailers, 4WDS. It’s really so wonderful to see so many people exploring what Australia has to offer,” said Eddy.

Beginning in Tasmania, the team is now making its way down across the Northern Territory to QLD, Track Trailer in tow.

“The Tvan has been perfect for our journey, we have been able to take it anywhere and set it up and pack it down at any campsite,” said Eddy.

First released in the year 2000 the Tvan quickly became well known for its distinct design and industry leading off-road capabilities.

The Tvan has earned many accolades through continual design improvements and option development; evolving to meet customer expectations.

These awards include, Camper Trailer of Millennium and Off-Road Camper of the Year in its category 2009, 2011 and 2015.

The latest incarnation of the Tvan has been designated as the MK4. While maintaining the famous Tvan look, the MK4 Tvan has had a raft of significant changes

Eddy and the team definitely appreciate the Tvan style and usability. “It’s so functional. Everything has a place. It’s like a giant travelling Lego set,” she said.

“It took us a while to get the set up quite right. That is more of a reflection on our camping skills than the ease of construction. Eventually a couple of Tvan owners took pity on us and showed us the right way to put everything up.

Top features to look out for in the new Tvan MK4:

  • Tvan MK4 now offers two variants of kitchen: The Classic Kitchen and the Premium Kitchen upgrade featuring twice the bench space of its smaller counterpart
  • ICC- Interior Command Console: The MK4 design provided an opportunity to fully integrate all the electrical options into one neat package
  • Weight saving: Depending on spec level the Tvan has shed approximately 50-100kg
  • Larger rear water tank: A new 108L rear tank replaces the 70L tank from the MK3. This is combined with an improved plumbing system incorporating higher capacity pump and pressure system.
  • Rear tool box: Access has been provided to the LH battery box for vans which do not have a battery in this compartment.
  • Redesigned Front box: The front box for the MK4 Tvan has been designed to accommodate a broad range of common fridges without impacting the ability of the tow vehicle to perform a u-turn on the same overall length of vehicle
  • Sliding glass windows: These windows provide a panoramic view from the interior of the Tvan with the ability to slide open, combining with the two roof hatches for even better interior ventilation.
  • Pannier Locker Doors: Pannier Locker doors have been refreshed for the MK4 Tvan, with improved dust sealing due to single piece sealing bracket and ability to accommodate plastic fuel jerry cans.
