Follow the Sun across Australia with Dometic

Category: News, Date: 8 December 2014

Each year, three couples are chosen as ambassadors for the Dometic Follow the Sun experience.

As part of their prize, each couple were given an amazing new fit out of their caravan or motorhome – some go for gas water heaters, others for Waeco fridge/freezers. They then go on an all-expenses trip for 3 months, on the path of their choice.

In 2010, winners Jay and Dianne Goncalves explored New South Wales, touring the rivers, lakes and bushland in the region.

The young couple from Victoria loved the trip – especially the very special ‘Happy Hour’ in Forbes that features a massive sausage sizzle, live music and even the local radio station broadcasting live from the holiday park!

Before they were named Dometic Follow the Sun ambassadors, Jay and Dianne enjoyed camping getaways to their favourite holiday spot at Queensland’s Fraser Island, in their Nissan Patrol and Kimberly Camper.

With a long-standing passion for sharing their off-road travel tips on forums, and making their own holiday movies, Jay and Dianne were a perfect choice to become Follow the Sun ambassadors.

Self-confessed chatterboxes, the couple thrived while hosting holiday park ‘Happy Hours’ and made life-long friends along the way. They urge all Australians who would like to take a dream holiday to enter to be in the running to be named this year’s Follow the Sun travel ambassadors.

Retirees Sue and Tony Hammond from Brisbane were experienced motorhomers and avid world travellers before they were named 2010 Follow the Sun ambassadors.

After receiving a Dometic upgrade to their trusty Winnebago Leisure Seeker, the Hammonds chose to embark on the Follow the Sun tour that crossed three Aussie states. Departing from Adelaide, they travelled across the Clare Valley and along the Murray to Mildura before heading to Bright in the Great Diving Range.

From Victoria’s high country they continued on to Gundagai and then headed to the coastal communities of Eden, Merimbula and Batemans Bay. The final leg of their tour took them north through Sydney, on to the Gold Coast.

Ever since their ambassador roles, Sue and Tony Hammond have been determined to see more of Australia.

Competition entries are now open, so make sure you take the time to enter – it could be the trip of a lifetime! Enter online.
