Category: News, Date: 18 February 2019

Look out for the ‘Community Welcomes Recreational Vehicles’ signage on your next trip and rest easy knowing that your destination is equipped to welcome you and your caravan, camper trailer, motorhome or campervan. This month we are profiling Miriam Vale.

These towns have made a commitment to offer easily accessible long vehicle short term parking within the town centre and have clear directional signage to their local visitor information centre.

Located just 475 kilometres north of Brisbane, Miriam Vale is the gateway to the Discovery Coast towns of Agnes Waters and Seventeen Seventy, Baffle Creek, and to Eurimbula and Deepwater National Parks.

The town of Miriam Vale features a mixture of buildings, including some lovely old timber ‘Queenslander’ style buildings. A Heritage Fig Tree sits within the popular parkland and opposite the town’s hotel you will find a war memorial.

Keep your eyes open for the service station with the giant crab which is famous for its mud crab sandwiches; you can also pick up a great feed from one of the cafes or pubs on the old style main street.

If you are travelling with children you definitely need to stop off at the recently upgraded Alf Larson Park which offers a state of the art playground with a range of features to keep the kids (of all ages) entertained for hours.

Kids of all ages will love the giant luminous Skywalk system which is connected by four elevated cabins with three angled nets and two slides to make the trip down quick!

For those warmer days the water play are is always a favourite with a myriad of different water channels, pumps and sand trays to keep the kids entertained for hours.

For the younger children there is the junior play zone which includes an interactive climbing tower, a ground level play panel, multiple swinging options, a 4-way in-ground trampoline and a custom log mound embankment slide.

To allow you to make a trip to this playground a full day out, the park also features shaded picnic tables, BBQ areas, clean toilets and plenty of parking.
