This July, coming from the east coast of Australia, crossing the Victorian and South Australian border along the Great Ocean Road, means that you are at the start of the perfect road trip to Adelaide’s premiere winter events!

To begin with you’ll find yourself in the area known as the Limestone Coast. You can check out this stunning region, starting in Mount Gambier where the world-famous Blue Lake resides, notorious for changing colour throughout different times of the year. Here there is an SA Parks member, Blue Lake Holiday Park, which with its brand-new indoor heated pool is a hot spot to stay this winter.

From Mt Gambier, you can choose to continue along the coast to Robe where there are 4 caravan parks to choose from, or you can head further inland where you’ll find some fabulous wine country in the Coonawarra region with nearby parks such as the Coonawarra Bush Holiday Park, which feature stunning Hampton’s styled bubble tents!

 Illuminate Adelaide

If you reach Adelaide a in early July, you’ll have time to see the Illuminate festival running from 5 July to 21 July, a showcase of Adelaide’s iconic institutions lit up with creative projections along with interactive and thought-provoking installations, dotted throughout the city. SA Parks have 13 caravan and camping parks located in Adelaide for you to choose from during your stay. Find a park here.

A bit later in the month you’ll want to travel into the beautiful Adelaide Hills, where scenic roads take you through towns like Mount Barker and the ever-popular Hahndorf, which is the perfect place to pull up stumps in, especially during the Winter Reds festival that is running from July 26 to July 28 this year. With over 30 participating partners and venues, you’re sure to find a couple of events featuring wonderful food and wine to suit your particular tastes.
