Summer Camping Excitement

This summer promises to be a busy one for camping as people look forward to spending time with loved ones. It is estimated over 4 million camping trips will be taken. As Australians look forward to their summer holidays and Christmas we are reminding all campers to be safe with our Caravan & Camping Safety Campaign.

Safety First

Before you hit the road, it is every camper’s responsibility to ensure their caravan / RV and tow vehicle are in good working order. October or November is a great time to book your caravan and car in for a professional service.

Caravan & Camping Safety Tips

  • Take a towing course. Even if experienced, a refresher course won’t do you any harm.
  • Plan your trip, include stops on your journey and help manage fatigue. There will be plenty of local towns who would welcome you with open arms, and each town will have something unique and fun to do!
  • It is always a good idea to share your itinerary with a loved one, in the unlikely event you need to be located in case of emergency.
  • Be patient, the roads will be busy. Accept this fact and enjoy the journey.
  • Pay attention to water safety. Drowning and water accidents increase around summer, so be vigilant and remember that adult supervision is necessary at all times.
  • Drive slow in the campgrounds! Caravan holiday parks are busy and there are always lots of kids who may appear suddenly from behind bushes, cars, tents, etc. Camping safety is of the utmost importance any time you get behind the wheel.
