ALKO ESC Revolutionises Towing Safety

Category: News, Date: 4 February 2013

AL-KO, the world leaders in caravan axles, brakes and components manufacture has announced the release of revolutionary new Electronic Stability Control (ESC) technology as a retrofit product for older caravans.

From February 2013, AL-KO will commence a progressive rollout of its AL-KO ESC Certified Installer Network nationally, which will be trained by AL-KO in the installation of the product.

Sven Mannfolk, Managing Director of AL-KO International said “We are extremely pleased and proud to be able to make electronic stability control technology available for the majority of Australians with existing caravans. We believe this is a new era in towing safety, and a technology that will ultimately save lives”.

In a world first innovation similar to ESC in cars, AL-KO ESC automatically responds to the driving behaviour of the caravan by monitoring for any dangerous sideways movements and taking preventative action immediately – applying the caravan’s electric brakes in a safe and controlled manner to maintain stability of both the car and caravan to ensure early intervention for a safe recovery.

“Since launching AL-KO ESC for new caravans in mid 2012, we have had a huge interest from the public regarding installation of the product for their existing caravans, and we already have a significant waiting list” said Mr Mannfolk.

“In addition to launching the product for retrofit, over 30 of the major caravan manufacturers are now offering AL-KO ESC as standard or as an option on their new caravans.”

AL-KO expects the cost of retrofitting AL-KO ESC to your existing caravan will be approx. $1,200 – $1,500.

“This is a very small price to pay to ensure the safety and peace of mind for you and your family on the road.”

If you only call on AL-KO ESC once in the event of an emergency manoeuvre, you have more than received value for your investment” said Mr Mannfolk.

AL-KO ESC will be available for existing caravans with AL-KO running gear and AL-KO brakes on approved suspensions.
