Your Adelaide Hills Spring Bucket List

Category: Inspiration, News, Date: 26 October 2026

Spring is one of the best times to explore the Adelaide Hills. The gardens are blooming, the weather is warming up and the region is full of easy day trips, local food stops and scenic places to explore.

Whether you’re visiting for the weekend or using one of the region’s caravan parks as your base, there’s plenty to see and do. See how many of these Adelaide Hills spring experiences you can tick off your bucket list.

Wander Mount Lofty Botanic Garden

Rhododendron Gully is particularly beautiful from August to October, while the Heritage Rose Garden is another spring highlight. Take your time wandering the paths, stopping at the lookouts and enjoying the colour throughout the garden.

Take in the view from Mount Lofty Summit

One of the best panoramic lookouts over Adelaide and the coast. It’s a great place to stop for photos, take in the view and enjoy a short break before continuing your Hills exploring.

Walk part of the Waterfall Gully to Mount Lofty trail

A classic Adelaide Hills walk through waterfalls, gullies and bushland. You don’t need to complete the entire trail to enjoy it either, so choose a section that suits your fitness level and enjoy some time outdoors.

Stroll Hahndorf Main Street

Take your time wandering through Hahndorf’s main street, browsing boutiques, local makers, gift stores and galleries. Stop along the way for lunch, a coffee or something sweet and enjoy the village atmosphere at your own pace.

Pick your own strawberries at Beerenberg Farm

A classic Adelaide Hills experience and a fun way to make the most of the warmer spring weather. Pick your own strawberries when the patch is open, then stop by the farm shop for jams, sauces, condiments and local goodies to take home with you.

Visit Hahndorf Farm Barn

A great option for families, with plenty of hands-on animal experiences to enjoy. Spend time meeting and feeding the animals and give the kids a chance to enjoy something interactive while exploring the Hills.

Pick your own flowers at Hahndorf Flower Farm

One of the prettiest spring experiences in the region. Wander through the blooms and pick your own seasonal flowers to take home. Sessions can fill quickly and the season is limited, so get in early before the flowers finish for the year.

Stop at Lobethal Bakery

No Adelaide Hills road trip is complete without a bakery stop. Pick up a German pastry, berliner or handmade pasty, or grab something sweet to enjoy with a coffee before getting back on the road.

Grab coffee at FRED Eatery in Aldgate

A popular local stop for good coffee and seasonal food. It’s a great place to start the morning or take a break between Hills stops before continuing your day.

Visit the Stirling Organic Market & Café

Part grocer and part leafy café, this is a lovely spot for a slower spring morning. Browse the local and organic produce, sit down for a coffee or meal and enjoy the relaxed Stirling atmosphere.

Enjoy a long lunch with a view at Mount Lofty Ranges Vineyard

Slow things down with a relaxed food-and-wine experience surrounded by Hills scenery. It’s a great option for couples or anyone wanting to sit back, enjoy the view and make lunch part of the day rather than just a quick stop.

Take a spring drive through Piccadilly Valley, Uraidla and Summertown

Follow scenic country roads past orchards, vines and little Hills villages. Stop wherever takes your fancy along the way, whether that’s a lookout, local produce stop, café or simply somewhere to enjoy the scenery for a while.
