Did you know that South Australia has over 60 waterfront caravan and camping parks? With the warmer weather well and truly here, now is a great time to start planning your summer waterfront getaway. From beachfront parks close to the heart of Adelaide to remote and remarkable locations on the Eyre Peninsula or along the Mighty Murray River, a wonderland of waterfront options abounds in SA.
You can enjoy a coastal getaway within just a few kilometres of the heart of Adelaide with numerous caravan and camping sites by the sea at popular locations such as West Beach, Brighton and Semaphore Beaches. The parks at these locations are not only a great waterfront place to stay, but they are the perfect base for partaking in the numerous Adelaide events coming up such as the world-renowned LIV Golf, the Adelaide Fringe Festival or the dramatic glass sculptures Chihuly Nights at the Botanic Gardens.
Slightly further afield, is the beautifully secluded beach of Second Valley, which has a caravan park that is the perfect base for fishing, swimming, diving and more. A family-friendly alternative is Port Elliot only a bit over an hour away from Adelaide, which is within close proximity to numerous surf beaches and has a relaxed coastal lifestyle that will make you wish you could stay forever.
Popular with locals for decades is the stunning location of Stansbury on the Yorke Peninsula. Local swimming beaches are ideal for plenty of summer fun including snorkeling, sailing, water skiing and windsurfing. The town’s three-lane boat ramp and jetty means that the anglers in the family are well catered for, plus there are some fantastic walking trails weaving along the coastline.
If a riverside escape is more to your taste, then the relaxing Riverland towns of Renmark, Berri and Loxton are ideal, with plenty of SA caravan and camping parks along the Murray to park your van right up alongside and enjoy the view.
