Spring in Tasmania has a way of doing everything at once, tulip fields blooming on the north-west coast while cellar doors along the east open up for the season. Whether you’re chasing something family-friendly, after a slower cultural pace, or keen for a big day out, here are the spring events in Tasmania worth pencilling into the diary in 2026.
Tasmania’s spring school holidays run from 3 to 18 October this year, and there’s plenty on to fill the break.

Tulip Festival Wynyard blooms into life on Saturday 10 October at Gutteridge Gardens, right in the middle of the school holidays, free entry, live entertainment, one of the state’s biggest displays of food and market stalls, and a fireworks finale to close out the day. It ties in with Table Cape’s tulip season just up the road, so it’s worth building a full day around.
Later in the season, the Tasmanian Craft Fair takes over Deloraine from 30 October to 1 November. It’s the largest working craft fair in the Southern Hemisphere, with a dedicated Mini-Makers program for kids alongside the main exhibits, so there’s genuinely something for the whole family, not just the craft enthusiasts.
For a slower-paced spring, Tasmania’s arts, food and wine scene comes alive from the north to the east coast.

Junction Arts Festival transforms Launceston from 17 to 20 September, timed to the spring equinox, with contemporary art, live performance and music breaking out of galleries and into the streets. Plenty of family-friendly programming runs alongside the late-night stuff too.
Out on the east coast, Great Eastern Wine Week runs 22 to 25 October, four days across the East Coast Wine Trail’s cellar doors and restaurants, degustation dinners, tastings and produce from Bicheno down to Triabunna.
Rounding out the coast, the Bicheno Food and Wine Festival lands on Saturday 21 November at Lions Park, a one-day, beachside celebration of local seafood, wine and live music that’s become something of an annual pilgrimage for locals.

For something with real 4WD and camping credentials, Highlands BushFest hits the Central Highlands on 21 and 22 November. With expert demonstrations and hands-on sessions across four-wheel driving, camping, hunting and fishing, sustainable harvesting, working dogs and outdoor gear, plus salami making and plenty of local food on the side, you don’t want to miss it.
Sport fans have two to watch as well. AFLW sees North Melbourne take on Adelaide at North Hobart Oval on Sunday 25 October, Adelaide’s first trip to Hobart since 2020. And cricket fans can catch the third ODI between Australia and England at Bellerive Oval on Wednesday 18 November.
However you like to spend your spring, whether that’s wandering a sea of tulips, sampling the east coast’s best drops, or watching the footy at North Hobart Oval, spring events in Tasmania give you a genuine reason to plan a trip around the season. Pack the van, pick your pace, and get out there.
