Perched high in the Barossa Ranges and overlooking the world-famous Barossa Valley, Mengler’s Hill Lookout and Barossa Sculpture Park is a destination that beautifully blends art, nature, and culture.
The Barossa Sculpture Park, set atop Mengler’s Hill, features 17 striking sculptures created by both Australian and international artists over the past two decades. From the lookout, visitors can take in sweeping panoramic views of the valley below—rolling vineyards, rustic farmhouses, and countryside stretching all the way to the sea.
The park was first established in 1988 during the inaugural Barossa International Sculpture Symposium. Nine artists from around the world—including France, Japan, the USA, and Australia—carved the original pieces from local marble and granite. Each sculpture was designed to reflect the essence of the Barossa landscape and lifestyle, with the artists living among local residents to truly capture the spirit of the region.
To mark the park’s 20th anniversary in 2008, a second symposium invited sculptors from Belgium, Egypt, the UK, Japan, France, the USA, and Australia. Working again in granite and carving on-site, they added a new layer of artistry and meaning to the collection.
Art, history, and culture lovers will find plenty to enjoy here. Wander the park’s short trail, admire the sculptures up close, and imagine the Barossa-inspired stories behind each creation.

The Mengler’s Hill Lookout is one of the most popular vantage points in the Barossa, offering a peaceful spot to take in the valley’s breathtaking beauty. The surrounding region is a postcard come to life—dotted with vineyards, cellar doors, and charming heritage towns, perfect for a few days of slow exploration.
Why not extend your visit? Cycle or walk along the valley trails, indulge in the region’s world-class food and wine, and enjoy a gourmet picnic with a view that’s hard to beat.
