The Kingston-On-Murray Caravan Park was devastated from the river flood of 2022/23 and had to close for 21 months to recreate a functioning park. But not only have owners Barb and Geoff re-established the park, it is now looking better than ever and finally after months of incredible hard work, the Kingston-On-Murray Caravan Park has now reopened.
Facilities at the caravan park include playground, camp kitchen, swimming pool, sports oval, pontoon, jetty and BBQ. Here, you can hire a canoe and explore the nearby canoe trails in Chambers and Nockburra Creeks or you can also take the Eco-cruise from the riverfront through the backwaters.
Set in a visually stunning and relaxing part of South Australia, the township of Kingston-On-Murray is located just 2km off the Sturt Highway where the sizeable Kingston Estate Winery marks the turnoff.
Nearby is the Banrock Station Wine & Wetland Centre which aims to balance agricultural use and nature conservation of the land. There’s an eight-kilometre boardwalk trail through the wetlands with impressive views. Once you have finished on the boardwalk it is time to delight the senses further with some wine-tasting or relax with a meal on the deck from the winery’s restaurant.
Close by is also the Moorook Game Reserve which is signposted beside the Kingston-Loxton road 4 km south of the Sturt Highway. It is a pleasant and peaceful reserve with sedges and reeds growing along the edge of Wachtel’s Lagoon.
While in the Riverland area take some time to relax by the Murray for a spot of fishing, do some bird watching and enjoy the beautiful sunsets. Or play a game of golf on one of the Riverland courses before you indulge in the excellent food and wine of the region.
Supporting the Kingston-On-Murray caravan park with a stay and also taking in the beautiful surrounds and local wineries in the Riverland region, is surely a fabulous way to spend a spring getaway.
