Heading out of Cairns on the Captain Cook Highway, take the time to appreciate this beautiful stretch of road. The highway weaves past Far North Queensland’s stunning coastline and lush rainforest. On your way to Port Douglas, we recommend stopping in at Palm Cove. This tropical oasis is a gem of north QLD and is brimming with great restaurants to enjoy a delicious seafood lunch.

The first leg of the Great Tropical Drive is marked by reaching Port Douglas. Here you will encounter swaying palm trees, golden beaches, and lush wildlife.
