Discover Porcupine Gorge, Australia’s Little Grand Canyon

Category: Inspiration, News, Road To A Million, Date: 24 September 2025

Nicknamed “Australia’s Little Grand Canyon,” Porcupine Gorge is an impressive natural wonder carved into the landscape by Porcupine Creek over hundreds of millions of years. With its breathtaking sandstone cliffs, lush forest, and tranquil waterholes, it’s a must-see on your next Outback Queensland road trip.

Explore an Ancient Landscape

This unique gorge features dramatic cliffs, diverse vegetation, and sparkling pools — all part of a landscape that is home to the Yirendali people. Wildlife lovers will also be delighted, with wallaroos and kangaroos frequently spotted throughout the park.

A highlight of the gorge is the striking natural formation known as “The Pyramid” — a towering monolith of marbled sandstone rising from the gorge floor in the shape of, you guessed it, a pyramid.

Both walks reward adventurers with incredible views and unforgettable photo opportunities.

Discover the Charming Outback
