After 12 months of searching online, Mark decided it was time to stop scrolling and start walking through vans. A few weeks after visiting his local dealership on National Dealer Open Day, he found out he had won $5,000.
On Saturday 5 September, caravan and RV dealerships across New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland opened their doors for National Dealer Open Day. Visitors could explore the latest caravans, campers and motorhomes, ask questions of the people who know them best, and scan a QR code for the chance to win one of three $5,000 cash prizes, with one winner drawn in each state.
Mark headed to Nova RV Melbourne in Campbellfield. He came away with a clearer picture of his next van, and later, a $5,000 head start on his next adventure.
Mark has been caravanning for about six years. Like plenty of travellers, he started small with a pop top and now he’s making the leap into the ‘true off-road’ Nova Bravo.
Now the plan is to go further. “Now that we are more experienced and have time we want to do more adventurous trails and camping,” Mark says.
The upgrade had been about 12 months in the making. Mark and his fellow travellers loved their last van and had plenty of fun in it, but they wanted something a little bigger and more versatile, able to handle corrugated roads.
By September, Mark had already done the online homework. He had looked at a lot of vans and narrowed his shortlist down to a handful of manufacturers. The next step was seeing them up close.
“We wanted to speak directly to staff and walk through vans and thought this was the ideal time,” he says.
Nova RV Melbourne marked the occasion with an Open Weekend across Friday 4 and Saturday 5 September, with free factory tours, a coffee and sausage sizzle, and lucky door prizes on offer.
For Mark, the people made the difference. “An investment of this size is a bit overwhelming, so it was great to have an experienced person to speak with and to discuss options. The staff at Nova were extremely welcoming and accommodating.”
He also appreciated the approach the team took. “They did not use pressure tactics but made it feel like a collaboration.”
The result? Mark chose a Nova Bravo, which Nova now builds as a full off-road caravan, a good fit for the adventurous trails and corrugated roads on their list. The new van is in production now and due before Christmas.
“Very excited to get our new van.”
Mark’s advice for anyone looking at a new van is to do both. Online research helps you work out what you want and which questions to ask. Walking through the vans is where those questions get answered.
“Being able to walk through the vans and to have someone on site to ask questions and get advice is a much better process than trying to select a caravan online,” he says.
If you are heading into a dealership, a few questions worth bringing along include:
Mark’s prize is going straight into the next trip. The plan is a small treat first, with a couple of essentials, including a caravan security system and a new annexe mat.
And the rest? “The rest will go on making memories.”
The team at Nova RV Melbourne were just as excited. “We’re absolutely thrilled for Mark and couldn’t be happier to see him take home an additional $5,000 towards his new Nova caravan adventures! It’s always exciting helping customers turn their travel dreams into reality, and this is an extra special bonus. Congratulations, Mark! We look forward to seeing you hit the road and start making unforgettable memories in your new Nova.”
Congratulations Mark, and happy travels. We can’t wait to hear where the new Bravo takes you.
Thinking about your first van or your next upgrade? There is no better time to talk to the experts. Do a bit of research, write down your questions, and visit your local dealership to see the vans in person.
