Founded in 1887, Renmark is Australia’s oldest Irrigation Settlement, thanks to a joint agreement between the state government at the time and the Canadian engineers George & Ben Chaffey. The brothers were instrumental in assisting to establish the system of irrigation, much of which is still in use on the Murray today. This irrigation system supports abundant horticulture and viticulture industries.
