Camping activities for non-athletic kids

Category: News, Date: 20 April 2022

Sometimes we all just want to relax on our camping trips; and well… With kids, sometimes it’s a little difficult.

And sometimes, it isn’t as easy as telling them to go out and kick a ball.

In an attempt to give you a hand, we’ve listed some of the best ways to keep the kiddos pre-occupied so you can enjoy your trip to the fullest.

Go on a kid friendly scavenger hunt

Get your kids thinking and out in nature and set up a fun scavenger hunt for them.

Set up some cheap items around the campsite that if don’t get found, won’t put a damper on the budget.

Study plants and bugs

Before heading off on your trip, invest in a botany / insect book for your kids to study.

They can walk around the campsite and identify all different types of plants and bugs which they will love.

Snorkeling

If you’re camping in a coastal spot, head down to your local general store and pick up a cheap snorkel.

Normally no more than $10, this is a great way to keep the kids entertainment. Through shallow reefs, peeking into rockpools or simply just swimming around- it’ll keep the kids occupied for hours.

Geocaching / Treasure hunt

Geocaching is a free app that allows people to put down items or activities and put in it’s exact coordinates for people to find.

If there’s nothing around you, why not leave a little treasure and add it to the map so someone else may find it later?

Not only is it unique, but it’ll definitely bring a thrill for the kids (and maybe for the parents too!).
