Beachport lies 393 kilometres from Adelaide. With its unspoilt natural beauty and quiet relaxed atmosphere, you’ll leave Beachport wanting more.
Whether you choose to stroll along Chambers Way boardwalk or try your hand at fishing from the jetty, you’ll be constantly reminded of the connection that Beachport has with the Southern Ocean.
In the 1830s, Beachport was visited by whalers seeking the Southern Right Whale. The whalers have now gone but these waters are still visited by whales – they can sometimes be viewed from the Bowman Scenic Drive. The drive also offers spectacular views of this rugged coastline and provides easy access to the beaches for fishing or beachcombing. To cool down, take a quick dip in the Pool of Siloam, a salt lake that is reputedly seven times more salty than the sea. You’ll experience its strange buoyancy.
The town is home to a large fleet of lobster boats. Watch as the fishermen unload their catches onto the jetty or visit the nearby factory to purchase a fresh lobster of your own (when in season).
Beachport offers the perfect blend of scenic coastal splendour and opportunities for adventure. There’s swimming, boating, walking trails, interesting historic sites, the stunning Beachport Conservation Park and nearby Canunda National Park all on the agenda.
