Barossa Valley: World’s Best Wines, Fine Food and Views for Days

Category: Inspiration, News, Date: 21 May 2025

The Barossa resembles its own classic wines: it’s a place of character, complexity and charm. Located only 60 kilometres northeast of the Adelaide city centre, The Barossa is a major wine-producing region, creating some of the best wines in the world, most notably Penfold’s iconic Grange red wine which has been awarded over 30 perfect scores.

Vines in this region were first planted in the 1840’s and it is safe to say that its unique soil, climate and a history of incredible care for the vines, have resulted in some wonderful wines that compel the senses! It’s also the place to spend an enchanted weekend, or better still, several days and nights.

There are now about 60 wineries, large and small dotted throughout the Barossa and you can learn all about winemaking at Château Tanunda before setting off for a day of tasting and buying. We recommend taking a local tour if you want to avoid the problem of tasting and driving – or nominate one person to do all the driving and none of the drinking!

Besides wine tasting, some of the other best things to see and do in the region are a visit to the delightful Barossa Farmer’s Market in Angaston, see the stunning Avenue of Palms and Seppeltsfield Village, discover the scrumptious Barossa Valley Chocolate Company in Tanunda and Maggie Beer’s amazing Farm Shop in Nuriootpa.

Some caravan and holiday parks located in the region include The BIG4 Barossa Tourist Park which is located in Nuriootpa, Discovery Parks Barossa Valley which is on the edge of Tanunda and Kapunda Tourist Park nestled between the Barossa and The Clare Valley.

No matter where you stay you can enjoy being just a stone’s throw away from delicious local eateries, world-class wineries, local markets, walking trails and so much more.
