Back to Nature: Discover the Grampians

Category: Inspiration, News, Date: 21 April 2025

Feature: Boroka Lookout

Victoria is known for its distinct seasons and late autumn/early winter is one of the best, with cooler temperatures offering the perfect opportunity to get out and explore.

One region welcoming visitors with open arms is the Grampians, in the state’s west. Businesses in this region were significantly affected by summer closures due to a major bushfire.

Sparked by dry lightning in a remote and inaccessible part of the national park on 17 December, the region was evacuated with the main township of Halls Gap re-opened to the public on January 8.

Visitors have slowly returned but there’s room for more and now is the perfect time to visit the Grampians (Gariwerd) National Park and discover this striking landscape. Not to mention that post-fire regeneration is itself a beautiful sight.

The Grampians offers something for everyone – from a romantic getaway to family fun and easily accessible outdoor experiences. And where better to stay than a caravan park?

Grampians Caravan Park Accommodation

Breeze Holiday Parks – Halls Gap is the place to stay for those wanting to be in walking distance of the Halls Gap shops and eateries, including the popular ice-cream shop and brewery.

The park offers unpowered and powered sites as well as a range of cabin accommodation, with dog friendly options available.

Breeze Holiday Parks – Grampians is located on the outskirts of town and offers more amenities, including a swimming pool, jumping pillow and pump track.

Accommodation includes powered and unpowered sites and cabins. Dog owners will appreciate the fenced off-leash area.

Halls Gap Lakeside Tourist Park is located next to the Lake Bellfield dam wall, about 4km from Halls Gap. This beautiful park offers the opportunity for a luxury holiday in a natural environment.

With its modern amenities and entertainment areas, this park has accommodation for everyone – from romantic glamping to cabins and powered and non-powered sites. A highlight for the cooler months is the wood-fire heated pool.

NRMA Halls Gap Holiday Park is a 5-minute drive out of town and is another popular option in with a heated swimming pool and sauna, and cabins and camping sites to suit every size and budget.

E-bike hire provides the opportunity for a leisurely ride into Halls Gap, while kids love the Bear Grylls Survival Academy program – a fun outdoor challenge that takes kids out of their comfort zones with exciting and interactive activities and obstacles surrounded by nature.

Grampians Paradise Camping and Caravan Parkland offers a more back-to-nature experience with a range of powered and nonpowered sites in a parkland setting, some with mountain views. The park also has two onsite retro caravans.

This park’s owners are rightly proud of their ‘re-wilding’ of the park’s environment, including a wetland ecosystem that helped protect the property from fire and offers wildlife refuge.

Lake Fyans Holiday Park is removed from the hustle and bustle of town in a unique natural setting surrounded by great scenery and with direct lake access (including a boat ramp) about 15 minutes out of Halls Gap.

Popular for its water activities, including fishing, this park offers accommodation in red cedar cabins and has a 4-bedroom holiday home onsite as well as ensuite powered sites in addition to powered and unpowered sites.
