The first leg of this great winter road trip is the journey south from Adelaide to Cape Jervis. While Cape Jervis is most well known for being the departure point for the Kangaroo Island ferries, this small seaside town also boasts some of the best views of the dramatic Fleurieu Peninsula. The town is especially beautiful in the wintertime when the hills turn emerald green.

We recommend taking some time to explore the area – it’s wildlife, delicious local cuisine and incredible scenery. A special treat during winter is the whale migration taking place in the seas surrounding Cape Jervis. From May to November you can see blue whales, seals and dolphins make their way along the coast. If you fancy stopping in Cape Jervis overnight, book a stay at the beautiful BIG4 Cape Jervis Caravan Park.
