Well known for its beaches, the Yorke Peninsula has in fact more to discover from new brews to historical copper towns and salt lakes to cliff hikes, however you like to getaway there’s something for everyone at South Australia’s world-famous Yorke Peninsula.

Have you heard about some of the emerging breweries that have opened up in the Yorke Peninsula region over the past few years? Utilising local ingredients, there’s Sunny Hill Distillery, Watsacowie Brewery and Hedonbar Brewing Company just to name a few.

While you are staying in Yorkes, be sure to add them to your itinerary and check out their latest brews, gins and limoncello too. It’s a great way to get to know some of the locals in the area and hear some of their life on the land stories. Nearby parks include Minlaton Caravan Park and Kadina Caravan Park, while Ardrossan is a great base to see all of these.
Historic Towns, Salt Lakes & Coastal Trails
There’s nothing quite like visiting historic towns like the ones in the Copper Triangle. This area which is approximately bounded by the towns of Kadina, Moonta and Wallaroo is where copper was discovered and mined over a century ago. Today these vibrant towns have many attractions, great food and also fun things for the kids to do like the amazing Splashtown at Moonta, next to Moonta Bay Holiday Park.
If it is something unique that you like to see on your travels, the Salt Lake Trail needs to be on your list. Starting and finishing in Yorketown, this driving route takes you past some of the best and most accessible salt lakes on the Southern Yorke Peninsula. Sunset is a great time to take in some fantastic scenery.

Or perhaps hitting some walking trails with breathtaking views from coastal cliffs is more your idea of a holiday, then Yorke’s 500km of walking/cycling trails showcasing picturesque towns, hidden coves and historic lighthouses is perfect. Broken up into lots of smaller trails, you’ll be sure to find the perfect trail for you and yours.
However, you like to unwind, the Yorke Peninsula’s expansive coastline, countryside and experiences are the ideal locales with something for everyone.
