< Inspiration / Category: Road Trips / Tags: Travel with Kids

Are you and the family itching for adventure? The Grand Pacific Drive is the ideal action-packed getaway to keep everyone entertained. This drive is an iconic way to check out the coast starting in Royal National Park. Continue across the Sea Cliff Bridge and through Wollongong, Shellharbour, Kiama, and the Shoalhaven. You can wrap around back to Sydney via the Southern Highlands. Or, continue on to the Victorian border through the stunning regions of Eurobodalla and the Sapphire Coast. The drive is best enjoyed in an RV or motorhome, giving you the freedom to make as many stops as you please. Set up camp in one of the many caravan holiday parks along the way!

Be sure to take a camera to capture some unforgettable memories and views from the Bald Hill Lookout. Keep a keen eye out for manta rays, water birds, and exotic sea life as you look deep into the crystal clear waters.

Feeling daring? Take a stop at Illawarra Fly Treetop Adventures, Australia’s highest zipline tour, and treetop walk experience! If you’d prefer to trade the sky for the water, give stand up paddleboarding a try in Shellharbour! Private and group sessions available to glide along Lake Illawarra and Minnamurra River.

After a big day of sunshine and adventure, head into Kiama. The name is derived from the Aboriginal word “Kiarama” meaning “place where the sea makes a noise”. Check out the famous blowhole where the sea’s noises come from. Kiama’s cousin The Little Blowhole can be viewed while eating lunch from a seaside village.
