After a great time at Yulara visiting Ayers Rock and the Olga’s we headed to Alice Springs to do some more exploring.
We checked into the Big 4 MacDonnell Ranges caravan park which is just out of town and spent most of our time exploring the West MacDonnell Ranges.
Our pick of must do places to visit was definitely Ormiston Gorge with swimming holes, shady trees, sand to laze around on and rocks to climb particularly as this is now Evie and Bruce’s favourite thing to do. We also made the stop at Ellery Creek (big hole) the kids and Colin managed a quick swim but it was far too cold for me I’m more a toe dipper and sun screen applier.
We did a bit of off road exploring out to Stuart’s Gap which was good fun and we also spent a few days just resting up around the caravan park utilising the pools and playgrounds.
We met some great people in the park another couple with 2 kids around Evie and Bruce’s age doing a similar trip to us (@ourbigloop on Facebook), so we enjoyed just hanging out and story swapping while the kids all played together.
It never ceases to amaze us the great people we’ve met on our travels and how embracing the caravan and camping community is. The few days of rest was definitely needed as we knew it was a long road ahead travelling back to Adelaide.
