Hi guys it’s John, wanna-be travel writer. After our short but sweet stop over at 1770, we hit the road and headed to Yeppoon. What a spot!
We decided to stay at the Cool Waters Holiday Village at Kinka Beach, about 15 minutes south of the Yeppoon Township. The park has the friendliest staff that we have encountered on this trip. They were an absolute pleasure to deal with and bowled us over with kindness, welcoming us to the area in an outstanding manner.
The swimming pool, water park and awesome water slides were the best we have seen in all the caravan parks we have stayed at. It kept all the kids big and small, and even the middle aged adults, entertained for hours each day.
We explored the area and a fellow traveller recommended a visit to the Byfield National Park to relax and unwind in the Upper Stoney Creek. It is an awesome swimming hole that even us as Tasmanians found to be a bit chilly. We had a day trip up there and cooked lunch under the sun after enjoying a refreshing dip. It would also make a great place to camp.
Kye spoilt the kids to a trike ride. The local trike tour operator came to the park and picked Kye and the kids up and took them on an hour long tour of the area. It was a hoot and even Kye was grinning ear to ear.
I was too busy, tending to dinner around the fire and whipped up a roast beef with vegies in camp oven – The best camping dish that can be prepared, all the while enjoying a beer around the fire with other travelers.
Yeppoon is drawing us back for a second visit. Usually we are happy to stay at any particular place at least once but we feel like we are not done seeing this area. We will be back in about a month to revisit Kinka Beach.
