River Tour

With a full day in Margaret River and so much to see we decided to join an organised tour. We went with Margaret River Discovery Company as we wanted to be on a smaller and more personal tour! We met with Sean, our tour guide and 2 other couple in Margaret River town – only a 5-minute walk from the River View Caravan Park. Our first stop was the Margaret River for a spot of canoeing, what a great experience and one which few people that visit the area enjoy!

Once we were out the water, safe and dry, it was time for a coffee (or hot chocolate) stop at Gnarabup beach. Next, we visited a secluded waterfall and learnt about the importance of the area to aboriginal tribes and sampled some delicious honey.

Wine Tasting

Back in the Land Rover we headed north to Fraser Gallop Estate, we enter through a private gateway, and wow – what a driveway and house (think Great Gatsby)! A delicious lunch of local treats was served in the barrel room and we were given the opportunity to taste a number of wines from the estate.

Following lunch, we headed to the Cape to Cape track to take in the wonderful views from the cliffs. Our guide Sean had somehow coordinated the WestPac rescue helicopter to do a fly by and we had great fun waving to the pilot and taking lots of pictures and videos as they flew over!

Once back in town it was a short walk back to the caravan park to feed the ducks on the river and watch the sun set – what an amazing day! We’d highly recommend this tour if you aren’t a wine fanatic and want a fun day full of variety with a small group.
