The Beautiful Margaret River Region – Poppy and Tom

Follow the Sun Relay participants Poppy and Tom are headed out to explore the beautiful Margaret River Region, famous for its beaches and scenic views.

Scenic Sights

We left Bunbury early in the morning and officially crossed over into the Margaret River Region. First stop was the Busselton Jetty. A leisurely 1.8km walk to the end of the jetty brings you to the Underwater Observatory.

What an amazing experience; we saw an abundance of colourful fish, crabs and even a curious octopus! The rest of the morning was spent beach hopping from Dunsborough to Meelup then Eagle Bay to Bunker Bay. Wow, each beach was more stunning than the last. Perfect crystal-clear turquoise water, no waves and no other people! We could have stayed all week!

For lunch we stopped at the Eagle Bay Brewing Co. If you like beer this is the place for you! We headed south to the Margaret River Chocolate Factory next and enjoyed many free samples! High on sugar we drove further south to Mammoth Cave for a self-guided audio tour. Tip – we booked the last tour of the day and had the whole cave to ourselves! Beautiful and mysterious we’d definitely recommend exploring at least one cave in the area.

We really enjoyed this first glimpse of the Margaret River Region!
