Caravan Industry Association of Australia has come together with Tourism Central Australia, Apollo Motorhomes and Ted’s Cameras to create the Real Life Classroom opportunity for two families to win the ultimate educational adventure!
We were absolutely overwhelmed with the all the fantastic entries, and eventually selected Gemma and Lindsey White and Lyla and Eagle Bradley (and their parents) to attend a fantastic Outback holiday around Australia’s Red Centre! The two families have now set off on a 28-day trip in an Apollo Motorhome with an incredible Ted’s Cameras prize pack to help them document their visits to some show-stopping Outback tourism experiences.
Throughout their journey, they are sharing their stories via photos, videos and blogs!
After Da dropped us off at Brisbane airport we embarked on our journey through the airport. With bags packed and ready to go, we dropped them at the bag drop lining up for security screening. I saw my back pack go through the scanner with my flute, it was bright blue and took up most of the space in my bag. With the all clear we continued into the Qantas lounge, and then had to wait one hour and thirty-five minutes.
I enjoyed taking many pictures before, during and after the flight including photos of animals, plants, family, and landscapes from high above.
We met two new friends, Cassy and her older sister Asha, from Victoria, in the pool and on the waterslide at BIG4 MacDonnell Range Holiday Park. We also played on the playgrounds and went to an Aboriginal Cultural Talk, whilst discovering the map of the Holiday Park, exploring the laundry sites and the BBQ sites with the kitchens.
Altogether we travelled (79.7 + ) kilometres and tomorrow we get to collect our motor home for the next 28 days!
This morning we had a delicious breakfast of boiled eggs and toast cooked by our chef, Daddy. We then started our 5.3 kilometre hike to Apollo Motorhomes, walking through the Alice Springs town centre and across the Todd river.
It was a slightly tiring walk, however, it is helping to prepare us for our future hikes around the canyons, gorges and Uluru.
We took many photos of flora and fauna today including each other and the Sturt Desert Pea.
It was an exhausting wait for us to finally drive the motor home, after filling out paperwork and all of the essential information about the motorhome. Stocking up on food and water, we arrived back at our first spot of the trip, BIG4 MacDonnell Range Holiday Park.
Organising our temporary home, we went to the pool for a refreshing slip and slide down the waterslide. Using our water proof camera, we took a few photos of each other, exploring the capabilities of this new camera we had never experienced before.
Soaking wet we returned back to our mother and worked on writing our daily journal as well as doing some other things. Today we have travelled many kilometres and I cannot wait for the activities that tomorrow will bring.
