Rain, rain and then just a little more rain.
We have had a few wet days, but we were not the only ones. Queensland has copped a fair bit of wet weather and we were not lucky enough to avoid it!
We had a soggy pack up at Cotton Tree but only trekked the 40 odd kilometres to Noosa. Unfortunately the weather did not improve but the company did, Kye’s Dad flew up from Tassie to escape the weather but I think he bought it with him.
We had a few crowded days in the van but the kids did an amazing job and it was a chance to catch up on some school work (solitaire is important for officer workers – jokes! ) plus it provided an opportunity to slow the tempo and relax.
In between rain, Poppy treated us to a river cruise. It was a really enjoyable way to see Noosa. Captain Brad ensured a magical tour for the kids calling them up many times to sound the boat’s horn. On departure from the boat the sky opened up and out poured the rain. The children looked worried as we had to run back nearly a kilometre to the car but to diffuse their worry we turned it into an exciting adventure telling them to run through as many puddles as they could and the deeper the better! Sorry Poppy but the rain run outshined the actual boat trip.
We indulged in a few cafes and restaurants to avoid a bit of the weather. It was a welcomed change from the nightly huddle around the table in the caravan. It was a real treat to be seated at tables enjoying food that we didn’t have to prepare.
We laid in bed one night, listening to the rain and the wind and we hear the familiar click of caravan awnings being rolled away – it was a good decision to hop out of bed and roll our awning up before the weather really cracked. We got soaking wet but it made for a better night sleep and awnings are not cheap to replace.
Noosa I imagine would be a cracking place to visit with nicer weather. It is tricky to see the true beauty of a place when the skies are dark and the rain forces you to stay indoors. We would love to visit Noosa again to have a better look around.
Maybe on the return leg!
