Hi everybody, we are the Cunliffe family!
My name is John and this is a pic of me with my wife, Kylie, and our three kids – Charlie aged 8, Jack aged 6 and Elkie who is 4. Over the next three months we’ll be hitting the road on a three-month caravanning and camping adventure, traveling from Tasmania to the Cape up in Queensland. I’ll be taking time out from my police work in the marine division and Kylie from her work as a hairdresser. As for the kids – well, they can’t wait to get going.
We’ve always been into camping and all of our kids had their first camping experience only months after they were born. Elkie was only 6 weeks old when she was introduced to a tent! We are an active family who enjoy anything water based like water skiing, surfing, fishing and cycling.
In the past we travelled for eight weeks in a Jayco Expanda up the east coast of Australia and then took the van over to Fraser Island for a few days before heading home again. On our previous trips, Kylie has helped the budget a little by offering haircuts at our van in the caravan holiday parks. This was a great way to meet different people and exchange travel stories and we loved the experience.
For this trip, we’re leaving Tasmania on Tuesday 3 May and won’t be back until the end of July. To begin with, we’ll head to Lakes Entrance before travelling north and staying at Pambula, Batemans Bay, Ulladulla and Kiama on the south coast of New South Wales. We’ll be travelling in a late model Toyota Hilux 4×4 (see the video below) and we’ll be towing our Jayco Expanda caravan.
We hope you will follow our journey and enjoy our experiences as much as we hope to. Talk soon!
