Kids need to be busy, who would have thought! Here are some tips on keeping kids busy from the Blackmores.
Another week here in Gunnedah and time is just flying by, turns out just sitting around reading a book having afternoon kips isn’t very conducive with having young children so we’ve been busy visiting little creeks and weirs looking for fish and yabbies.
Turns out best place to get them is in the irrigation channels on the farm, yabbies that is.. Found a great little creek though on an old stockman’s route which is accessible to everyone and prime for a leisurely afternoon.
Colin caught a bearded dragon in an impromptu roadside pullup, something I’m very accustomed to with Colin and I do expect random stops to happen again a number of times throughout the trip (a legitimate life goal of his is to catch and release a frill neck).
Apart from his innate ability to spot and catch lizards he’s also not bad with a camera so we went and took some photos of me and the kiddies. I wanted to look back on our travels and not feel like I lived the whole time in 3 day old jeans and a stained shirt. Must say he took about 300 pics and we got about 10 that weren’t with eyes closed or crying kids but I’ll take that. Probably going to visit the place Col grew up next, Lake Keepit. Looking forward to showing Evie and Bruce a little of Dads history given it’s not very often we’d be out this way, plus I’ve heard so much about it as well so will be good to put a place to the name.
