Wesley’s Follow the Sun journey continues! At the end of June, Wes was officially handed the keys to the Follow the Sun Relay motorhome by Annette Sym, our relay starter. Wes is a professional filmmaker based in Melbourne, who flew up to Brisbane to begin his long journey up to Cairns. In this post he shares his trip from Bowen to Mission Beach.
After an epic time at Airlie Beach and an awesome trip to the Great Barrier Reef, it was time to hit the road again! We took a relatively short drive up to Bowen to spend a couple of days at BIG4 Bowen Coral Coast Beachfront. It was great to chill out, wake up to to an amazing view and I even started the day with some yoga!
We then drove a couple of hours north to Townsville, where we stayed at Discovery Parks Townsville. We loved this park. They put on an awesome happy hour and we got to meet some great people. John and Tracey were great hosts as well and made everything even more fun.
After a nice couple of days in Townsville, we headed up to Mission Beach. One of the best things about travelling in North QLD is how scenic the drives are. Everywhere you look there are blue skies, palm trees and amazing views. We had to stop along the way to take it all in!
When we arrived at Mission Beach, we checked in to Dunk Island View Caravan Park where we had an amazing few days exploring.
Some of the highlights were the amazing weather, picking up some fresh produce at local markets, visiting the beach, and doing some hiking!
