Explore with the Reeve family of Lapping Oz while they complete their next leg on the Follow the Sun Relay. This post is about their stopover in Narooma.
The NSW South coast is putting on a wonderful show, with gorgeous sunny days, not ‘too cold’ swimming and wildlife encounters that we have never experienced before. Narooma (originally Noorooma) – an Aboriginal word meaning clear, blue water absolutely nails it. Everyone is blown away by the magnificent topaz water coursing through the town and out to the Pacific Ocean.
This beautiful seaside town offers plenty to see and do. We checked out ‘Australia Rock’ in Narooma, it has a slight resemblance to a map of Oz. More exciting than the rock though, were the seals lazing about on the breakwater! It was so cool to see wild animals going about their day. An amazing experience! The Mill Bay Boardwalk follows the bay to the north side of the break wall and is perfect for spotting large sting rays up close, going about their business.
The Big4 Narooma Fasts Holiday Park is unmissable, it features a fantastic indoor water splash park visible from the Princes Highway and has a prime water front position. This time it was a struggle to get us adults to leave the park as the outdoor pool was fabulous for doing laps and the spa was incredibly huge and could easily accommodate more than 15 people. So relaxing and you’ll be pleased to know the park allocates “family time” in the spa in 2-hour sessions. The rest of the time, the spa is strictly adults only.
The Winnebago stayed parked the entire 3 nights as everything we needed was within walking distance. The local IGA grocery store, bait & tackle, ice creamery, cafes and bottle shops are literally across the road.
It was the perfect place to relax, unwind and inhale the ocean fresh air. If you love being surrounded by water; you’ll love Narooma.
