See Follow the Sun Relay’s Poppy and Tom as they explore some beautiful beaches in WA.

Greens Pool

After a short but sweet, and windy, night in Denmark we back tracked to see Greens Pool and Elephant Rocks. Western Australia really is home to Australia’s best beaches and Greens Pool was no exception, a very well protected cove full of crystal-clear water that was a snorkeller’s paradise.

Just around the corner from Greens Pool is Elephant Rocks. To get on to the beach you walk through a narrow gap in the rocks, which feels very “Narnia”.

Through the rocks we found a small deserted beach from which we viewed the “elephants” heading out into the ocean.

Torndirrup National Park

The afternoon was spent sampling a few whiskies at Limeburners Distillery before moving on to Torndirrup National Park. Here we stopped at the Gap and Natural Bridge. Not even the Dutch courage from the distillery could get Poppy out to the edge of the viewing platform at the Gap!

Good beaches are not hard to come by over here and short drive lead us to Goodes beach – kilometres of pure squeaky white sand, azure waters and no people!

We pulled into Albany later that afternoon for our stay at Big4 Middleton Beach. Without a doubt the best park we had stayed at; immaculately clean, modern facilities and recycling bins (sounds silly but they had been hard to find at other places!) Best of all it was literally a stone’s throw from the beach! Just when we thought WA had run out of stunning white sandy coves, we are lucky enough to have one right on our doorstep.
