Dolphin Time at Monkey Mia – Riddles Caravanning Adventure

Our next stop was all about the dolphins. Ever since we left Port Lincoln Grace has been wanting to interact with dolphins. Unfortunately, we missed them in Bunbury due to the inclement weather but we knew we could guarantee she would see dolphins at Monkey Mia.

As we pulled off the main highway and headed into the Shark Bay World Heritage area we knew we were somewhere special. This is as far North in Western Australia as any of us have been before, so we were all discovering something new.

Where we Stayed

We based ourselves out of Denham for the first few days and this provided us quick and easy access to Monkey Mia and the Fancois Peron National Park.

Grace and Tom both loved the Dolphin interaction. Luckily, they both had a chance to feed the dolphins in one of the three daily interactions allowed. You couldnā€™t wipe the smiles off their faces for the rest of the day. They both really enjoyed learning about the area and the Dolphins (it also provided a great basis for a school lesson later on).

All up we spent 6 days exploring some of what this amazing area has to offer. We stayed near the beach at Tamala station, where you can literally throw the fishing line in from the front of your caravan and roast marshmallows on the campfire with the kids.
