We knew not every week was going to be rainbows and unicorns with the kids while caravanning and this week was one of them. I think a combination of less than ideal weather and prolonged periods of time sharing each other’s personal space took a slight toll on everyone.
The kids were just hating on each other almost every day with nonstop fighting and whining, but that didn’t stop us from making the most of the beautiful Merimbula where we pulled up stumps for the most part of the week in a caravan holiday park.
I couldn’t believe the amount of oyster farms we passed on the drive south from Batemans Bay. Obviously oysters are not to everyone’s taste but if you’re a fan Id highly recommend any of the oysters from Narooma down to Merimbula and probably further south if you get the chance. So good in fact that Evie (who is 4) not only wanted to try one but actually enjoyed it and polished off about 5 which we couldn’t believe. We stopped for one night at Mimosa Rocks (yucky weather) but awesome spot. We tripped around the national parks near Merimbula but didn’t get to fully enjoy them again due to weather.
We ended up needing to separate the kids a few times especially when the rain stopped so Colin took Evie fishing and Bruce and I hung out around the caravan park and playground. Let’s just say it was pretty important for Colin and I to be each other’s support person this week. It’s funny how you seem to know when the other is at breaking point and you just take over the calmness because you know although you’re frustrated the other person is just that little bit more crazy psycho than you..
Anyway here’s to better weather and better behaved children!
