Not far from Darwin lies a little oasis of crystal-clear, spring-fed pools, surrounded by tropical trees, abundant aquatic life, and shaded picnic areas with BBQs. From March to April, native flowers bloom throughout the park, adding bursts of colour to the landscape. During the dry season, the sparkling Berry Creek pools are ideal for a refreshing dip in warm, clear water shaded by pandanus and monsoon forest. Walkers and birdwatchers can explore the park’s looped walking track, which winds through monsoon forest and woodlands alive with vibrant birdlife.

Berry Springs also has a unique history. During WWII, the area formed part of a major rest and recreation camp for the armed forces, hosting more than 100,000 personnel. Several of the huts built at that time can still be seen today, offering a fascinating glimpse into the region’s past.

Nearby, the Territory Wildlife Park is a popular destination for both locals and visitors. Set within 400 hectares of natural bushland, the park showcases diverse habitats including woodlands, wetlands, and monsoon forest. Enjoy daily animal feedings, interactive encounters, and fascinating presentations, or head out on woodland and rainforest walks to spot native wildlife and flora of the Northern Territory. It’s a great way to learn more about the Top End’s ecosystems in a single visit.
