There’s something special about spending a week or two of your summer holidays with a big group in a caravan park. There’s space for extended family to spread out across tents, caravans, and even cabins, and the easy camaraderie that develops almost instantly with your fellow holidaymakers makes for a holiday filled with precious memories.
Many family groups return every year to the same spot for their annual Christmas trip, reassured by the familiar faces and places, and enjoying the ‘How’s the serenity’ moments.
Trent and Natalie who run the Cotton Tree Holiday Park in Queensland have one family that has been coming to stay every Christmas for over 70 years. The Matriarch, Veronica spent her very first summer at Cotton Tree, and this year she will be bringing her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren once again to enjoy a week by the water.
BIG4 Riverside Swan Hill in Victoria has been family run for forty years, and they’ve seen their fair share of return visitors.
“We have one particular family that have been staying at the park for over 30 years. They initially used to play in the tennis tournament every year, however are now elderly and don’t play anymore but continue to stay with us in a cabin.
“Their adult son and his family also stay every Easter on a caravan site and he plays in the tournament. We have lots of families of 3 and sometimes 4 generations who stay with us.
“It’s great to hear their stories about how the park has changed over the years. Its an amazing feeling to know that we have contributed towards many happy family memories created here,” said Ainsley O’Brien, the owner/manager at BIG4 Riverside Swan Hill.
Whether it’s the open space, the community, or simply the location that draws these families to the same parks year after year, we wish them all a very happy summer season.
