Community Welcomes RVs: Gulgong

Look out for the ‘Community Welcomes Recreational Vehicles’ signage on your next trip and rest easy knowing that your destination is equipped to welcome you and your caravan, camper trailer, motorhome or campervan.

These towns have made a commitment to offer easily accessible long vehicle short term parking within the town centre and have clear directional signage to their local visitor information centre.

This month we are profiling Gulgong.

Booming in the gold rush era of the late 1800’s, this heritage town featured on the original $10 note, and is now steeped in history & gorgeousness – where local passion runs deep.

We invite you to step back in time and potter around the original and narrow bent streets with high footpaths in our historic town. Gulgong was founded in the gold rush era when an estimated 20,000 people flocked to the area.

Whilst the streetscape and heritage buildings haven’t changed much since the late 1800’s, you’ll find a progressive and passionate community eager to welcome visitors and share their stories. It’s a real and rare treat.

Facilities in this Town:

  • • Dump Point
  • • Medical Facilities
  • • Visitor Information Services 3 days per week Fri to Sun

I visited Gulgong on a whim on my way from dubbo to Bathurst last year. I found the museum and intended to have a quick look before moving on. three and a half hours later I hit the road. what a magnificent little town and a really great museum. Thank you to the people who maintain the museum and grounds and thank you to the person who saved all these items for us to see.
