Tag along with Follow the Sun Relay participants Poppy and Tom as they explore one of their last stops, Albany.
Our last full day on our trip was spent at the National ANZAC Centre, around 30 minutes walk from our caravan park along the Ellen Cove boardwalk. We were fortunate enough to be there at the same time as the Army, Naval and Air Force cadets were holding their annual parade. Inside the centre was a wealth of information on WW1 and the numerous battles the ANZACs fought in.
Fascinating and confronting, it is an excellent tribute and catalogue of the hardships endured during the war; by soldiers, their families, civilians and animals. It gives a great insight into the role that Albany played in the role as a stopping point for the ships carrying soldiers and horses to Europe.
Back at Big4 Middleton Beach we enjoyed some time in the pool and spa before packing everything up for our 4.30am drive back to Perth the next day. We have had such an incredible time on our leg of the Follow the Sun Relay and can’t wait to follow the journey all the way back to Brisbane! Thank you to everyone involved and letting us be a part of this!
