The Canberra International Music Festival turns 20 in 2014 with the theme ‘The Fire and the Rose’.
You will experience a rich and vibrant program of classical and contemporary music – a showcase of the familiar and the new. The Festival program will feature a number of major reflective works by Bach, Mozart and Brahms performed on period instruments.
The program will explore the centenary of the commencement of World War I and the 75th anniversary of the outbreak of WWII through the works of composers who served as soldiers on all sides.
The years immediately before the First World War witnessed the dawn of a new age, producing men and women of remarkable talent. Somewhat paradoxically, they also left a formidable cultural legacy and some beautiful music.
Many of these works will be heard for the first time. Tickets on sale now, visit http://cimf.org.au/ for more info.
